As you may know, SOFR officially replaced LIBOR on December 31, 2021. So, what does that mean for you and your existing clients and contracts? theFinancials.com is here to help.
The Secured Overnight Financing Rate (SOFR) is a broad measure of the cost of borrowing cash overnight collateralized by Treasury securities.
Key Challenges
- Development of a forward-looking SOFR rate requires deep liquidity, leading many participants to use compound or average SOFR rates until such liquidity is achieved.
- Using SOFR swaps to hedge future index rate movements.
- Industry conventions are still developing.
- Automating the conversion of existing contracts.
